Good morning!!

Im planning on leaving London January/February 2014. I want to start in South East Asia then move on to Australia after a few months.
I just need some general advice on how much to save, where to start with planning my trip?
Also it would be cool knowing a few people planning on going the same time as me so Im not totally alone :)
Any help would be appreciated

Hi everyone, im looking at heading out to SE end Jan 2014 and then moving over to Oz circa beg April starting north (maybe cairns?) where the weather would still be warm and then heading to Sydney for spring/summer so probably around September time I guess. Id like to complete 3 months regional work as early as possible in order to qualify for my 2nd year whv then work while in Sydney.

If anyone has any similar plans/ideas/advice it would be greatly appreciated. Or even if anyone wants to join me?

Im Lauren, 28 from London/Surrey borders.

Hi Lauren

I'm heading to SE Asia in October then oz in December! :-)
Have you booked anything yet? Could always join for October! Haha. Just booked my flights! I wanted to do the regional work as well for my second year, I was hoping to get sponsored by an employer but they aren't accepting any new applicants so I'm hoping by next year they are again! I'm going to travel the east coast then get a job in Sydney or Melbourne! Whichever I like better!

Hi Jen

I would love to go earlier than planned but I cant for a couple of reasons - one is saving for spending money and the other is work related, i'm hoping to take a 1 year sabbatical from work but I can only apply once I have reached 5 years service and then need to give at least 6 months notice so effectively cant go anywhere before 5 1/2 years service. I'm actually kind of hoping I wouldn't need to come back at all but at least a sabbatical gives me the security of coming home if I need to.

do you have more info this? how do you find employers to sponsor you and where do you find if they are/are not accepting any applicants?

I'm only really starting to embark on all my research so as much advice as possible would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe we could meet up at some point if we end up around the same area.

It was quite a while ago I read about not accepting new applicants. Just had another look and this is the lastest info...

Looks like it was updated in feb.
I have friends and family who live in Perth so going to ask them for advice!
If you have Facebook add me and I'll keep you updated on what info I find!! :)
