It was quite a while ago I read about not accepting new applicants. Just had another look and this is the lastest info...
http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/whats-new-esw.htm
Looks like it was updated in feb.

The information on that page has nothing to do with going to Australia on a Working Holiday Visa. That's for people who're over 31 or otherwise don't qualify for a WHV, and want to go to Australia on a regular work visa.

Conversely, doing regional work to qualify for a second year is a WHV-only thing, and not at all applicable to people on a work visa. More information about this type of work can be found here.

Ah ok. Thanks for your help. I already have my whv and I was looking for when the work holiday visa finished, that's why I thought it was that! I was hoping to stay more than 2 years.

Ah, ok. Yeah, to stay beyond a 2nd year you'd have to be sponsored or somehow go the regular way of getting a work visa / immigrating.
First I'd look into New Zealand, though. As a UK citizen, you can get a 23-month WHV without any additional requirements beyond a health check, and there's a second type of WHV available independent of the first (up to age 35 even) through Bunac; so that could give you nearly three years in New Zealand (with Australia of course being right next door, and three month trips there needing nothing more than a free eVisitor).

Hello :)
I've just found this through the "ultimate oz" website.
I'm heading out to Aus on the 17th Jan 2014 & will arrive in Sydney on the 19th Jan :)
I've booked with the "ultimate oz" company & I will be with them for 1 week & hoping to meet people and travel around. I would like to travel up the east coast is this something you are thinking of doing? :) xx

Hey :-)

I'm looking at hostels at the moment but hope to stay in Sydney for a week or so and see all the sites then head up the east coast. I looked at Ozintro as well but not sure how much it is? I'm excited but worried about going on my own! How long are you staying for?

Well, I have booked with Ultimate Oz & ill be staying with them for 10 nights, as im doing the 7 day activity week with them.

I havn't really thought about how long I will stay in Sydney for but I would like to travel the east coast too.
I'm pretty much open to ideas & just going with the flow really.
I've got a 12 month working visa but may possibly extend it for another 12 months depending on how things go.
I also want to visit Cambodia, Thailand, Laos & Vietnam after Australia. So hoping I manage just to find people wanting to do similar things like myself.
I'm Excited to go too but also rather nervous at the same time ha!

Xx

Hi...just looked through this thread and it is so reassuring to see so many people going on their own too!!

I land in Melbourne on 4th January and am hoping to either get work there for a couple of months or move on to somewhere else, depending how much I like it there. Is anyone else in Melbourne at a similar time or planning on doing a similar thing? Would be nice to know a couple of people before getting out there and the whole camper-van idea sounds awesome!
