There are a handfull of small clean reasonably priced inns on Sherbrooke street that I tend to use. I've never seen them booked out and they are not fancy but not bad either. A little under 80/night gets you a single room and 90ish gets you a double... Can't remember their names though.

I am up for that. Tina, Viv...can you guys call this place and find out if we can get a group rate? Or how many people would we need for a group rate?

I just called Hotel St Malo. They have 3 types of rooms: economic (1 double ded) for $75 +tax, standard (1 double bed, room slightly bigger) for $85 +tax, and delux (2 double beds) for $115 + tax. They don't give any group rates, unfortunately. However, if there are 4 of you and you share a "delux" room, it would only cost about $30 per person.

[quote=areinstein] Hey guys,

Don't worry about not speaking/understanding French when it comes to getting here or finding your way around. Every hotel, hostel, B&B, etc. will be able to answer your questions and make your reservations in English. If we were meeting in some remote town up north, then you might be out of luck - but the city is bilingual and I doubt you'll ever have a spec of trouble.

Tway.

And, we now know all the "naughty" words in French if anyone gives us any trouble!!!!

Naughty words?? OH do share!! I need to practice!!

SOOOOO... Is a delux like an ocean view? I like to have my breakfast on my balcony!

The breakdown sounds pretty good. Alas, I don't think it will be wise to be in the same room with married women!LOL Been down that road already

Ocean view is included in the price - but easy access to the beach comes at a premium...;)

As for the naughty words, well... there are so many to choose from! Just inject a lot of "s'tie" (pronounced roughly "s'tsee") into your sentences and you're good to go. It's a profanity whose rootword comes from "hosite" - or host, as in communion wafer.

Why words taken from the Catholic church are the worst to use is kind of difficult to explain - but suffice it to say it's more acceptable to use 'the old familiar suggestion' (as Art Garfunkle calls that most flexible of words) than to mouth off with the holiest of holys.

Marc, I will forward the list we got from Tway so you will know all the correct phrases! Anne, Cupcake and we (the Isa's) have been practicing for awhile.

Cupcake also sent me some German ones just in case so I will pass those along to you and who ever wants them.

Married women? Been there, done that?? Something we should know about you Marc???

LOL..You got me Isa! Not only I am a mild mannered night manager of a small hotel and student. Moonlight as a gigalo. I am so ashamed.

Not one of my better moments.I chalked that one up to the inexperience or stupidy of young love. For the record, she never mentioned the other man. Her co-worker told me! WOMEN!!!

Nothing wrong with sleeping with a married woman. She's the one committing adultry, not you. Besides, sharing a hotel room hardly qualifies as "sleeping with married women". Just refrein from any hanky panky and you'll be fine! ;)

Hey Marc, I have the perfect example. I am married, travelling through SE Asia with a male friend of mine and yes, we are sharing the rooms. No hanky panky, no monkey business, it is strictly off limits.

The funny thing is that here in Asia, it doesnt look all that good...a married woman, a single guy sharing a room. We already had a couple of situations where we were looked at as if we were from another planet when we said we werent married or were dating. Now, we refrain from any further comment.
