Around a hundred a night is fine. It doesn't matter too much... all I need is a bed, shower, and please let it be clean!....No cockroaches or crime-ridden dives and I will be happy;)

That's going to be our budget (if possible) too. A room with a warm shower would be nice. (In Panama, we had a couple with cold showers only - but it was hot so it worked...) Montreal at the end of September - what will the weather be like? (Just in case I decide to start packing now...)

The weather in Montreal in September will either be:

  • nice and warm
  • rainy and humid

or

  • pretty cold

That's what weather is like here - unpredictable. I think it'll have to be a last-minute packing job. And even then...

And I second Katie. I don't drive and do more than fine with public transportation. And if you're staying downtown and driving around, it will be nothing short of hell to keep moving your car and trying to find a parking spot. The Metro within downtown itself is no more than 10 minutes away from everything.

Here are some links if you want to do some exploring:

Montreal, includes hotels, restaurants, etc. etc.

Public Transportation, includes routes and prices

Restaurants

The Biodome ,including insectarium, botanical garneds and the like - for you animal lovers

I just checked expedia.com and for the end of September. There are quite a few reasonably priced hotels. I took a look at the locations and Hotel Le Saint Malo (http://pages.videotron.com/malo/index.htm) is right in the middle of the action down town and very close to the metro. I don't know anybody who's stayed there though, so I can't tell you how good they are. The place looks decent enough on their website.[list][u]

Hey Joz, the hotel that mtlgal posted doesnt look bad at all, it is inexpensive and close to everything. Cant beat that...when it gets closer to the time, I will find out and make a reservation. As of right now, it doesnt look like Mr. Anne will be coming as he is planning an Alaska cruise with his mom for the beg. of September... I wasnt invited It appears to be a mother and son bonding moment for them...

Oh, God, not the dreaded accommodation question! I've only even stayed at the Intercontinental in Montreal - and that's because I worked there and they gave us a free night.

Hey Tway-are you a fellow IHG member too?

M.

Let me know prior to making the reservation. I am not going to get the plane ticket until the first or second week of Aug. :)
An Alaskan cruise? Sounds nice...but I don't think I would want to go with my mother...

You're invited too! :) C'mon over from Vancouver.....I can't make the promise that the weather will be fine (as Tina aka Tway said), but it's a great city!
