Here's a pretty great walking tour of old Montreal that I found on Frommers. It's a great place to hang out if the weather's nice. The website suggests 2-3 hours, but I say, if you have the time, spend a whole day there. It's so great for lounging and admiring the painters....it actually feels a little like...wait for it...Paris!

Cheers,
Katie ;)

Ahhhh! Montreal! What a beautiful city! Probably one of the best cities in Canada! it has lots of character! have fun, guys

Vancouver is a cool little city. That lamp post district was nice. A lot of good "clubs". Far less potholes too!

Hey Tway-are you a fellow IHG member too?

M.

I worked in the laundry room from 1992 to 1998 - enough time to save up for and then pay my way through university. Not the most elegant of jobs, but the pay was very decent and it kept me from having to get a loan.

Did you work there too, Marc?

Actually I still do! I work for Candlewood, part of the IHG family.
It's a cool gig. A lot of stories, thats for sure!

All this Montreal talk without ME! I'm hurting right now here in Toronto, but I am definitely going to be in Montreal for the meetup. Was set on helping out with the organizing of it and still am for those in mtl who would like to converse about the entertainment options.

And for the general knowledge of all who recognize my "name" (travelover), I moved to Toronto 2 weeks ago! And NO I will not become a Torontonian overnight. I was born and raised a Montrealer and will maintain my status for as long as I live! Sniff sniff... plus not having a comp doesn't help in maintaining communication with TP.

Nooooooooooo! Not Toronto!! ;)

Welcome back, Tam!

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: as long as you don't become a Maple Leafs fan all is well in the world. ;)

Just a suggestion... (Being the wacky couple that we are?!)

Okay, we're all at the TP "flocking" and (Oh My God) the thought crosses our minds - who are you??? Who is a TPer and who is just a guest of some strange hotel?! And, as a guest - "Why are you asking me about TP - doesn't everyone use toilet paper?"

So, we propose the following solution to an possibly awkward situation...

Those dreaded things known as name tags. But, with a twist (make mine a lime twist, please...) How about...

A name tag challenge. All TPers who are planning to attend are responsible for their own name tag. Design the most creative and informative name tag for the event. The Isa's will buy the winner the first 5 drinks. We're alcoholics and cheap! As time goes on - we can choose Sam and/or Pete to be the judge(s) or nominate a judging panel from the hotel or local pub staff, who will likely think we're all insane anyway. (It is S&P's site after all, but they should be able to join in the fun too - so hotel/local pub staff is preferrable... Can't have those megalomaniacal Administrators choosing their own name tags now can we??? KIDDING - maybe... ;) )

Anyway, just a thought for how we are going to know each other from "bums" that may just have rooms reserved somewhere. Any thoughts are welcomed and will be dismissed at random.

LOL, funny stuff! I'll be the one sitting at the bar without a name tag, that's how you'll know me! lol ;)

Actually, I was thinking once we iron out a place, I would just say to "look for the tall one with red hair on the second floor" and all would be well. For outside of the main bar get-together, perhaps name tags would be good. Or maybe a blue bandana and a special handshake? Maybe someone could just yell out "MARTINI!" wherever they go, LOL!
