You sound the same as me, always wanted to travel but been scared of going on my own and friends either have boyfriends or don't want to travel. STA travel do some good group trips. They are a bit expensive as you could do it all yourself for cheaper but it's reassuring to know you're not on your own. I'm thinking of going to Thailand for 3 weeks in August which I thought might be dangerous as a girl on my own but from what I've read it seems to be a friendly place and everyone is there for the same reason. Have you got any dates/places you fancy going? x

book yourself onto a tour for a week - you'll meet some people, everything is organised and it gives you a head start in terms of not being alone when you dip your toe into travelling. I can recommend intrepid travel for tours - I think STA sell their bookings, least they used to. One of the best things I ever did was travel up to Chiang Mai and stay with Karen village tribe, trekking through the jungle, elephant riding, bamboo rafting and tubing. Excellent!

I don't care about traveling alone. I havent done much travel by myself, but I always seem to meet people and things work out. I'm going round the world by myself. Starting in the US and can't wait to leave. :) good luck everyone with their plans. xx

You sound the same as me! I really want to travel around SE Asia and possibly go on to Australia and NZ but I can't find the courage to go alone. I'm put off going with an organised tour though because they seem to charge such high prices and I'm not convinced I'd want a set itinerary. It would be great to find a travel buddy to join me, or at least begin my travels with.

Hey!
Travelling alone is actually fun and liberating. You aren't actually alone if you stay in hostels and dorms.
I did it for 3 months and loved every minute of it. Out of my whole trip I was probably alone 4 days max and that was my choice.

You're never alone in SE Asia. Unless you are severely rude or socially repulsive. I went alone and was never alone, easy too make friends everywhere you go.

Hi, Thanks. The more posts I read, the more my decision is made - I think I need to just book it and go!

Why don't you ask your closest family member to join you. Or just make companion along the way just be observant many back packers are friendly you wont be alone if you mingle with them the right way.
