HI,
DOING THE WORKING HOLIDAY VISA, THEY RECOMMEND THAT YOU NEED £2000 SUFFCIENT FUNDS FOR 1 YEAR, WILL THAT REALLY BE ENOUGH FOR A YEAR OR DO YOU RECOMMEND MORE MONEY?

ALSO, I REALLY DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO ABOUT FLIGHTS, ONE WAY OR RETURN. AS REGARDS TO A RETURN FLIGHT, I DONT KNOW THE EXACT DATE OF RETURN OR EVEN WE MIGHT WANT TO CHANGE THE AIRPORT, FOR EXAMPLE IF I BOOK MY RETURN FLIGHT FROM SYDNEY TO LONDON I MITE DECIDE 11 MONTHS INTO MY TRAVELS THAT I WANT TO STAY IN PERTH LONGER AND RETURN PERTH TO LONDON.... IS IT EASY TO CHANGE AIRPORTS AND DATES? HOW MUCH DO THEY CHARGE?
THANKYOU

Depending on your ticket, date changes are usually pretty easy and cheap or free. Place changes can be a bit trickier as it will depend on whether that airport matches a list of allowed departure airports (for example Melbourne and Sydney are usually the same price whereas Perth probably wouldn't be...).

2000 pounds is not enough for one year and I know several brits that went through that in their first month But that's why it's a working holiday visa. That money is just supposed to tie you over till you get a job and you should be able to save a little while working or at the very least break even and use the 2000 pounds to travel at the end (or middle/beginning of course). Personally I'd recommend at least 5000 AUD. If you live tightly, that could almost get you by 5 months... but most people have a hard time budgetting the first few weeks I can say from experience :)

The 2000 is more a visa requirement than how much you will need when over here - it works out to just over $4000. It definately helps to have a bit more though in case you can't find a job straight away. It can be hard to in some areas as there are so many backpackers wanting the same jobs.

As to the ticket, I got a return flight that gave me 10 months here (most the travel agency could keep a ticket open) but it can be easily changed to give me more time here for about 50 quid. Just make sure that when you book your ticket you ask the travel agency if the ticket is changeable and how much for because it varies.

Hope that helps
