Just to extent on Terry's recommendation on not buying top-loaders, which I agree with:
1) Loading from the top, means unpacking and repacking every time you need something from the middle to bottom parts of the backpack - you don't wanna do that every day for 18 months.
Solution: Find a panel-loading backpack, where the entire front (or most of) can be zipped open.
2) Many top-loaders are closed with drawstring or buckles that you can't lock. Candy for thieves, for whom it's no problem to locate you fancy new backpack on top of (even) a moving bus.
Solution: Get a backpack locked with zippers, and buy a combination- or pad lock.
You choice of size seems good!
And as Terry also says, try it on.. I always buy my backpacks (the three I've had so far) in person... But at least make sure you can return it easily if it's not a fit
