Travel Forums Off Topic Sporting Activities Forum

Hi everyone,

As I'm still a relatively new member to TP, I'm still finding my way through all the forums. I just wondered if there are any specific forums set up where people who are travelling abroad (say for example to Oz)can meet up with people who are interested in meeting up while away to take part in shared hobbies or things to do such as football, surfboarding, sky diving, mountain climbing, bunji jumping or even pub crawls etc. This is only a small sample of such a diverse possible range of activities if you want to call it that. If such a a forum doesn't exist, would it be worth setting one up if it got positive feedback,,??

Awaiting all your comments/suggestions,

Cheers

Hey hmeister (I like your ID by the way, funny)...I havent seen a forum that is exactly sports oriented but if you go to the General Topic forum you will see the TP Meet Up topic (with a red dot right next to it), that will be sort of like the "pub crawl" type of activity...although we may just all be crawling out of one bar together drunk

Hiya Arenstein,

I got that ID from my mates from my sporting excursions as I had a habit of winning or drawing games of golf and pool from seemingly no-hope situations... I did look at the TP meet up forum you mentioned. Looking at all the posts in it, it seems like a lot of organising and effort just to get one set up. A pub crawl forum does sound like an excellent idea. I saw some of your photos in the gallery. Nice shots! I am only just back fro Paris after spending a long w/end there..

Ah I bet Paris was nice this time of year, almost Spring (or is it spring yet?). Hey, maybe you'll get ambitious enough and join us in Montreal!

I think the travel companions forum covers this to a large extent... but I might not be understanding exactly what you mean...

I think he wants a forum dedicated just for sports and hobbies...well, this is mostly a travel oriented website, maybe this isnt what he is looking for after all, or is it?

I hope everyone doesn't get too wrapped in this debate. Sam if your looking at this mail, i just thought that it would be a good idea if there was a pub crawl forum. I have no qualms with this website. It's been really excellent to know that such an great bunch of people contribute regularly to it. And Arensein if you're looking also it didkill me to leave Pris on the 15th March last as it was 19degrees C or 66degrees F and we had to carry our bags around all day until we got the bus to the airport.

A pub crawl forum wouldn't be bad actually, the only problem is it doesn't really tie in with travel (although a lot of us do them while travelling ). Also, as with some meetups, they tend to be a lot of talk until push comes to shove and then no one shows up :(

At some stage though, we'll be looking at making sub forum headers as the forums grow. A 'pub crawl' forum would be a good idea then under a type of broad 'meetup' forum, which then also includes 'travel companions' for example as well as 'TP meetups'....

Now, if only we could find the time! Don't worry though, when we take the next round of forum updates, I think we might finally have to break down and do the sub forum levels we have resisted for so long
