Interesting way of doing it. It's great to know the things people do when planning, so thanks for that!

I was really confused by the "planner." I am a fairly savvy 50-something byt was not sure what it was for (obviously it is for "planning," but how it worked exactly was baffling me. I searched in the forum and did find this discussion but not many people are going to dig for the answer like that.

How about a simple paragraph description and minor tutorial-not unlike the one for this forum- but on the Travellerspoint homepage. The homepage is a confusing mess. I opened it up and felt overwhelmed. Check out Prezi and see their tutorial video. Maybe you could have something like that.- a fun and short informative tutorial video. Just a thought. -janice

ANd yes, I have so many notes about how to get to my airbnb or couch surfing couch. Hey you might want to collaborate with them to have an airbnb or couchsurf plugged into travellerspoint with instructions on how to get from point to point. -janice

Hi Janice, thanks for the excellent feedback. We do have a page explaining the planner, but depending on how you got to it, you might not have seen it. I'll see if there's ways we can ensure this shows more clearly. There is a screencast which walks through how to use it: http://www.screenr.com/AkD7 .

The homepage is a tricky issue since we have a lot of different components to this site. We don't have a single tool like some other websites do, so it's not as easy to explain simply. Mostly I've had quite positive reactions to the home page though, so somewhat surprised at your description. In any case, it's taken on board

Notes will be definitely be added next!

This is fantastic! It's the one tool I had always hoped TP would provide when I joined many years ago.

I have noticed just one major flaw so far ; the 'Add to Travel Plan' doesn't seem to work on some sites - most notably TripAdvisor. Is this by design and/or for commercial reasons? To be honest, being able add a shortlist of accommodation options (directly linked the the reviews) for each location is currently the only missing piece preventing this tool from being truly, truly great.

Overall, I'm still very impressed.

Hi duck, that's great to hear! :)

Can you let me know which page on Tripadvisor is not bookmarking for you? And which browser you are using? This is definitely not by design - we want you to be able to bookmark anything.

Hi Peter,

Thanks for your response. The bookmarklet seems to fail on any page that has 'active' content, such as Flash or a lot of ajax. One example would be:
http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g255060-d256659-Reviews-The_Westin_Sydney-Sydney_New_South_Wales.html

I have tested this with Firefox (Win 7), IE9 (Win 7), Firefox (Linux), Chrome (Linux), and have also has another user test with Safari (OS X). More than happy to test further if there's anything else you'd like me to try.

Thanks again for your help, and great work!

Awesome, and sorted :)

p.s. sorry about the post being flagged - that kicks in automatically when people add links in their first few posts.

Update: notes can now be added to all your stops.

To reduce confusion, I've removed the "notes" that showed in the map stop editing form and only have those in the planner view now. There is a distinction between public and private notes. By default, all notes added will now be private for only those people you are travelling with.

If you want to add a note to your trip map that others can also see, then you need to make it public.

Hopefully it's clear enough what's happening there :)

Hi,
A couple more suggestions.
i. The date on the left hand side needs to say "Fri 22 Feb".
ii. It seems too large. Once you have 15 or days listed then it is a long page of stuff. May be each date can be reduced to the date and the heading only and expanded on request. Or simply reduce the size of the fonts being used.
iii. Links need to open in a new window or tab.

RometoRio obviously know the best way around Bangkok. 7 km in 12 minutes :). Sometimes it is 120 minutes

Cheers,
Glynn
