What would be considered a good ticket price from Eastern North America, preferably YYZ to Sydney. I don't care if I go through YVR, LAX, or SFO. Also, what is the best airline or company to do a couple of internal one way flights in Australia (Melbourne - Alice Springs and Alice Springs to Cairns). Thanks for any help!
Air Canada had a special in the papers this week - under $1,000, if I remember right. That's from Montreal, but I'm pretty sure they'll have prices from Toronto, too. I think those prices were just for the spring, though - you'll have to check what they have for August, although it's a bit too soon to tell. I went in high season to NZ and paid a LOT more than $1,000...
for internal flights you can try the no-frills airlines like jetstar (a branch of qantas) and virgin blue. qantas also flys domestically and their prices are quite good aswell. have a great time in cairns- its one of my favourite places in australia, the scenery is just beautiful.
You could take the Ghan train from Melbourne to Alice Springs, probably quite a long trip, but must be ok i guess.
But for cheap flights, definately virgin blue or jetstar. jetstar currently have a $15 easter seat sale, so check out their site, www.jetstar.com.au. only problem with them is that they dont fly to many destinations.
