Hiyaa. I just came across this website and thought I'd get some advice.... I've decided I want to go traveling, either the end of the year or start of 2014. Australia, and new Zealand are on the top of my list. Is it better off to book a gap Year with experiences etc. Or just jump in the deep end and book your flights!? Also averagely how much does it cost to take a 3 months trip? Or Would I be better off taking a year of paid work :)

You could travel somewhere and then find paid work when you get there - that would help with the costs and allow you to really experience a place. Booking a gap year with a company would probably be safer and easier as they sort things for you and take responsibility. Might be more expensive. Depends what you prefer and how confident you are.

I would save at least $10k first. That is a lot of time to go on "vacation".

Book a Gap Year

Sorry for not being up to date (as a 26-year old that is kind of embarrassing), but what the hell is booking a gap year?

If it's anything like it sound's I wouldn't recommend it... I my opinion travel is done independently... You will learn more, especially about yourself and it will be more rewarding... It will also be more frustration and harder, but that is exactly why you're rewarded by travelling independently...

It will usually be cheaper, but you will make mistakes (we all do) that might be expensive money wise even out the gap...

Talking about money try to figure out what the usual daily budget for your kind of travel and destination will be... Some places it can be as low as 20 US dollars a day, however, I don't know anything about Australia and NZ... But I will be higher....

If you want to travel, and this is you first big trip, don't go work abroad right away... Spend some time of the actual travel around... If you get tired of this, or don't fell you're done when you are getting low on cash, a job can prolong your travels and even earn you some money....
