Hi all,

I'm planning on travelling to Thailand mid March - mid April, flying in March 25 from Vancouver. This will be my first solo trip looking forward to the adventure, just looking for fellow travellers or any tips!!

Cheers,

Nicole :)

If you're still in Thailand for the week of April 8th- 14th you're lucky as it's Songkran, the new years water festival, I've just been told to keep electronics in plastic bags all week. I'll be in Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand then if you're around that area then let me know. I've been living in Bangkok Thailand for 10 months now (also Canadian which I'm assuming you are) so if you need tips on how to get anywhere feel free to ask or anything else.

My favourite places in Thailand so far are Chiang Mai, Sukhothai, Railay (a boat ride from Krabi) and Khao Yai National Park.
If you want to avoid places overrun with tourists skip Phuket (expensive and inauthentic) and Koh Samui (alright beaches, but there are better).

Enjoy Thailand :)

Hi Nicole,

I land in Bangkok early morning on 27th march, I am there until 31st before moving north as I am working until sept there. If you fancy a friendly face ( i know I will!) then let me know as I too am travelling alone. Im 28 and although not worried about being on my own would be nice to have some company.

shanetay240 I will be leaving from Bangkok April 18th, I plan on doing a lot of tours but was going to wait until I arrive to book!

Sarah.M Yes Canadian, from Winnipeg, You?? Thanks for the response! I was thinking about heading up to Chiang Mai for Songkran, at the moment I haven't put too much time into planning!

Katie84 I will most likely still be in Bangkok. Do you have accommodations booked??

Hiya, yes ive booked mine because im only there a short time initially. I didnt want to waste it looking.

Im in the silom area for 1st 2 nights. booked a place with awesome reviews and I thought it would be a good chance to go to the night markets and see some nightlife. Then ive got 2 nights booked in the suneta hostel khaosan road. it was a good rate and you get breakfast, again it had really good reviews. I leave bkk for Ayutthaya.
I wouldnt normally book in advance but id like to do quite alot in those few days so made sense and being the 1st time Ive done something like this I wanted to be sure of where I was going to stat with. I booked with agoda, ive seen mixed reviews but I had no problems and found them to be reasonable, I also checked trip advisor for reviews on the hostels.
hope to catch up :)

Hi Nicole,

I'm also from Winnipeg, it's a really small world! I hear the weather there has been pretty brutal this month. Chiang Mai is pretty great if you like trekking, biking, cooler weather (for Thailand), temples and jungle adventures. I'll be there from April 11th until the 14th of 15th depending on when I can get a bus to Laos.

Where are you planning to visit in Thailand?

Hi everyone

I will be travelling to Thailand early april 2013 for three weeks to do some travelling. No definite plans as yet but most likely start in Bangkok then move towards the islands for chill time and partying.

I am a 23 year old male from Belfast, Northern Ireland - i think i am easy going and get on with most people.

Just decided to head away as starting a new job in the summer. Anyone like to discuss travelling together please message me or add me on facebook
Jonny
