Hi im arriving in Bangkok on 13th April heading up to chiang mai on the overnight train, have a free week before heading to the elephant nature park for a month, if anyone will be in Chiang mai at the same time im staying in a hostel in the old town for a couple of nights if anyone would like to meet up?

Have been to thailand before but only for a few weeks at a time would be nice to have some company as iv never been travelling alone properly before and slightly nervous!

Also if anyones looking for a day trip or volunteering would highly recommend the elephant nature park, this centre rehabilitates abused and oprhaned elephants you can interact with them feed wash them etc definatly worth a trip!!

Hi all I am just looking into accommodations my plan was to explore around Bangkok a couple of nights and head down south around the 31st would love to get on some sort of tour but planning on booking it when I arrive! Kate I looked into the Suneta Hostel and it looks great, considering booking march 28-30. Nothing like planning last minute :D

Nickyloux the elephant nature park sounds amazing! We may just cross paths in Chiang Mai!

But if you do book it let me know even if you dont we can still catch up if you like as we are in Bangkok the same time. I head to Ayutthaya on the 31st. I've been to Thailand and Chiang Mai is somewhere you have to visit! That's where most people do the activities such as elephant rides, jungle treck, waterfalls, tiger sanctuaries etc. It's definitely an experience you won't forget, quite surreal. I wish I had more time to go to the islands, I wanted to go to Phi Phi, heard great things, I went to Koh Tao, I didn't enjoy it that much, felt it was very empty, that's where a lot do the diving and snorkling, but other than that I felt there was not much to do in the day, one or two places to go at night in terms of night life. However i really enjoyed Koh Samui although someone said it is quite toursity, and I agree, but it had the most beautiful beach. Obviously Koh Phanghan for the full moon party.. I could go on. I stupidly ran out of money whilst I was there, because although it was cheap, I didn't take into account the trip to Laos which cost quite a bit of money. -snip-

[ Edit: Sorry, no promos please. ]

I will be staying at the Saphaipae March 28, 29 which seems to be close to Lub d. We most defiantly should meet up!

I am so excited to get out of this snowy weather! I will be in Las Vegas for the weekend before I arrive in Bangkok can't believe how quickly its sneaking up!!

Thank you to everyone that has posted advice/tips!
