I'm backpacking around Mexico in July to August. Any advice on the best backpack to get and what essential things I need to take would be much appreciated. Cheers for ya time, Tee.

There's a thread for this somewhere on the site which will probably be most helpful. From experience, though, don't forget a needle and some blister bandaids. Even the most comfortable of shoes...

It will be summer in Mexico so bring 100% cotton clothing, quick dry towels, locks, a bathing suit, a good pair of shoes, sun block and you are set to you!

Here are some threads I've found...I'm sure you'll find tons of ideas in them:

What do you ALWAYS Pack?

What would you pack?

Handiest item to take on a trip

Some uses for duct tape while travelling (okay, it may sound odd, but you may see that you really need it!)

Also, check out the packing list and packing tips here on Traveller's Point.

Hope that helps!

Cheers,
Katie ;)

LOL, no prob....I do what I can ;) All I ask is that you think of me when you're off having fun on your trip...or perhaps buy a big enough suitcase that can fit a person in it so I can stow away!

K;)

Mosquito repellant and calamine lotion - especially if you're going to Tulum!

surprisingly, sarongs make for great beach towels. Maybe its different for guys, but i know thats what i use instead of towels, because they're alot lighter and they compact better. They also dry alot faster, and they serve the same purpose as a towel (pretty much)
Binoculars are also fun to take. I don't know how much room you'll have, and im avoiding listing the basics that you need to bring, because im sure you'll have covered that by now!!
