Hi All!

I am traveling over to the Greek Islands come July to Mykonos and Santorini. A friend and I have done a bit of research on the best and somewhat affordable accommodations, though I would like a few more suggestions ie: which hotels/hostels etc are best, fairly reasonable in pricing knowing that it is peak season, as well as location and locality.

Your feedback on your choices will be greatly appreciated! :D

Tam

Hostels are not a very common thing in Greece. I am not sure if there is one on Mykonos. On Santorini there is Oia Youth Hostel, obvsiouly located on Oia and Youth Hostel Anna located in Perissa. I have no personal experience with none and iut is hard to advice which location might suit as you do not provide your interests. Oia is where most of honeymooners prefer to stay, on the caldera (cliff) side of the island, great views, maybe the most popular spot to watch Santorini's famous sunset,20 minutes bus ride from capital town Fira where most nightlife is. You have to go to Fira to connect to other parts of the island.Only a few boutique shops, upscale restaurants and a few mellow bars in Oia. Perissa is maybe the most quiet spot among the known villages of Santorini, besides the inland villages of course... IT is located on the flat "Beach" side of the island. Cheaper destination with more budget friendly eating and drinking options, a good 45 minutes bus ride to Fira though. In season there are boat taxis to Kamari, a similar but more popular beach resort. Santorini is a volcanic island and this reflects on its beaches. Black pebbles/siggle/rocks. I suggest sea shoes or something and sunbeds over towels as beach can get unbearly hot!

I am not familiar with Mykonos, usually the dilema is" Staying in town and connect on beach during the day or stayin on beach and connect to town at night? Town is where all the nightlife is. Problem is Mykonos is bl00dy busy and taxis are not enough to serve visitors smoothly. You may find your self waiting a couple of hours on the early morning hours after nightlife to get a taxi back to your beach hotel, or wait one-tow hours till a taxi is available around midnight to get into town or something.
