Travel Forums Asia Suggestions For Vietnam

Hi everyone, I'm planning a backpacking trip across Vietnam for three months from June to August this year. My main query is, given the time period I plan to travel, where would be the best places to go in regards to weather?

Also, I would like to visit some neighbouring countries also, again, which countries would people recommend in terms of weather during that time period?

And also, any tips or suggestions or just ideas that people may have are always welcome!

Thankyou,

Chris

I wouldn't worry too much about the weather. A little rain is not going to hurt you or your plans very much, and even if you have rain, it won't be constant. Rain is normal in the summer months - plan to work around the weather, but not to avoid it. In late November, I was in Laos - this was supposed to be the dry season, but there was rain. One or 2 nights it did stop me from going out to eat, but other than that, no problem at all.

My favorite SEA country is Vietnam - mainly because it's so friendly. People approach you - very nice for us shy travelers - I travel solo and am a senior. You should contact the student guide services for their free tours - fantastic, and you make an instant friend this way (done for English practice). Send them an email a month in advance to reserve (Hanoikids, Saigonhotpot and Danangkids (for Danang and Hoi An).

Hi Chrisb4,
The time you plan to be on your holiday is in autumn and the weather is cool. Then you have to consider some places that u can see how nice Vietnam is in Autumn. Being so, you can take a day trip around Hanoi City, where you can see girls in áo dài walking on the streets with falling leaves, or you can just walking around Hoan Kiem Lake enjoying peaceful scenery, watching daily life of Hanoian, etc.

Or if u are trek lover, you can join a trekking day to the north of vietnam where you can see the charm beauty hidden in the terraces, rice fields, mountains in fog and even people who live here.

[ Edit: Sorry, no promos please. ]

Just returned from Vietnam and loved it. Agree that people are very friendly. Student services are a good idea. They offer a good insight into thinking of young people in V. Riding on the back of a bike with a student in Saigon, sampling street food was a highlight for me as a senior who has never been on a motorbike. Overnighting in Halong Bay is a must in my view. Enjoy it!

Hey,
I am off to Vietnam in March for 25 days, so far by myself unless any wants to join me.
I am currently trying to get a rough plan together for my Travels from North to South. I don't want to miss out on ANYTHING. Does anyone have any suggestions on must see places and experiences. I like to enjoy every part of countries culture.

Thanks dear
