Woww 5 weeks and all those places.. better pick the best of the best..I did Thailand in 4 weeks alone!! You don't need to spent too long in Bangkok, you can probably get everything you want to tourist wise done in Bangkok in a around two days, but definitely stay in Kohsan Road, or on a corresponding road as that's the main strip with all the bars and restaurants. Very lively. Chiang Mai depending on how you travel there may take around 12 hours to get to, I took an overnight coach so arrived in the morning and then did a two day jungle trek, so spent one night in the jungle, then had a day to recover from it all afterwards, so in total spent around 4 days in Chiang Mai. If you plan on going from Chiang Mai straight to the south, you should definitely go to Koh Phangan, I went to Koh Samui and Koh Tao, didn't particularly like Koh Tao there wasn't much to do, other than diving, which i didn't partake in. However Koh Samui had an amazing beach, lots of restaurants and bars and was great just to relax as it was boiling too! But i'd also recommend going to Koh PhiPhi. You can probably spend around 3 or 4 days on each island in the south. So in total try aim for around two weeks in Thailand. You want to be able to take it all in and enjoy it, also taking into consideration travel times for getting around! That leaves you with three weeks for Malaysia and Singapore! I nearly ran out of money whilst I was there though so I always say to people to take more and be sure that you have enough to get around, you may find that you want to opt for flying or a more luxurious travel to the next destination, (as i spent 25 hours on a rickety old bus- was a nightmare) and that can take a lot out of your funds, so better to take more than not enough, check out-snip-

[ Edit: Sorry, no promos please. ]
