Why do you endure all the cold or hot temperature, high humidity pain, waiting for ages for someone to arrive, being lost in the dark somewhere, ie why do you hitchhike?

To meet new people? Can't you do that in the pedestrian precinct of your hometown?

I am serious, why do you do it?

Because I am poor

Because I like to believe that others can be warm, open and welcoming to strangers and it is an opportunity for them as well as for me.

Because I am not constrained by timetables

Because through showing that strangers can be kind and open, people are encouraged to believe in others' kindness and in turn, not dismiss others as readily as before
