I know people constantly ask the same questions but im either just blind or missing the topics..

Basically I want to travel/work in Aus I reckon towards the end of the year, probably december/Jan 14 buttttt ideally can anyone tell me how much min money I would need to take over with me ( not including flight over )

Thankkkk you!!

The minimum you need to qualify for the WHV is AUD $5000. For an average backpacker, that money would last you slightly more than two months (staying in small dorms in decent quality hostels, travelling by public transport, cooking your own meals), and this money is really a lower bound of how much anyone will spend - so, the more you bring, the more you can do before you need to find a job (and don't wait too long with that, as you won't succeed immediately, nor will you get paid immediately after you've found something).
Your costs will go down while working (you can find long-term accommodation and won't be travelling), so that allows you to save up decently (don't expect to be rich - but you should make enough to travel onward a bit more), or at the very least to stretch your money much further than it'd have gone otherwise.

Hey,

Thought id add to what Sander said - your visa will be round £290 and flights start from £600 one-way but depends on when you fly etc.

Im looking to go bout Dec 27th/28th ready for NYE.

I'm playing to use a holiday visa first then if all goes to plan apply for my work visa. Just incase I for some reason don't enjoy Aus or work is hard to come by.

Have you guys looked at places to stay over new year?

Im pretty sure you can't apply for a WHV if you have already arrived in Australia, you need to arrange it before you go.

My flights cost me £1,300 for return (London to Perth)
Visa = £290
Insurance = £150 +
Like someone said previously you need $5,000 Aud to get into the country
I'm taking £6000 for 6 months, but I still plan on working for a month

The cost of living is very high in Aus (1 lime from a supermarket costs £1.50!!!)

I'm heading out in October CANNOT WAIT!!!! :D

See you on the beach if you make it out!
