Some people thrive on it, but how do you feel when you receive recognition at work?

It has become such an everyday thing here in the US...the dumbest little thing gets an award....or a pat on the back. It starts in grade school...they get ribbons just for participating! I think they have got to the point of praising mediocrity that no one notices truly outstanding accomplishments anymore....very sad...

Unofrtuantely, in my job we get more recognition when things go wrong.

I know people who are so afraid to be recognized for their "good job" that they praise themselves!! hahah

loads of negative recognition on things that should not be linked to my job, and when i do get good recognition its normally embaressing and done in a public forum,

What is this "recognition" of which you speak? Samsara is not familiar with it.

It seems like most of the responses so far are referring to "recognition" as being positive / negative attention drawn to the individual OR his/her work performance
