I really liked Auckland. I have to admit when I first came to New Zealand I wasn't initially that keen on Auckland. It was my first stop and I just spent a few days there and then went off and travelled around the North and South Island.

But I went back and lived and worked there for around three months and I grew to love it. There are some really nice suburbs, lovely parks, beaches, the weather is good and it is probably the best place for jobs. Also if you want to travel to places like the Bay of Islands for a weekend then it is easy to jump on a bus and do so.

I agree Steve - Auckland is about the suburbs not the city centre. We hardly ever went to the city centre for shopping, eating or drinking, as there were always far better options in the suburbs. It's a shame that many people are put off Auckland because they arrive in the city centre, see Queen Street and then think it's a rubbish city!

Yes I know what you mean, I have to admit though this is what I thought at first! But then when I went back there I ended up living in Kingsland and explored the suburbs more and loved it, I even grew to like Queen Street in the end, I just rationed my visits there!
