Thanks again, guys. Yeah, we might go by air one of the ways just to save time. From what I've heard, and I've researched quite alot, the new trains should be fairly comfortable without roaches. We're not expecting Scandinavian levels of comfort either way.

What do you consider the best city up north for staying a couple of days with good food, drinks, shopping and a decent night life? We're considering booking a hotel in Danang, as we want to go to Hanoi to visit some tailors. We've also read that although Nha Trang is beautiful, we are recommended to skip it and spend time in other places in stead.

I guess everybody has different experiences though.

I would recommend skipping Nha Trang too, as I didn't think it was that special. Hanoi is a fantastic city, and Halong Bay is beautiful so if you have time I'd recommend spending some time in those places. I much preferred Hanoi to HCMC, and overall I enjoyed the North better than the South. Hanoi has good nightlife, food and shopping so it sounds like you'd enjoy it too!

Hi frodeliciouz, I read in your last post that you like the beach, so why miss Nha Trang? Nha Trang is very beautiful. But if you like to spend more time in the north, I suggest you fly to Hanoi, Hanoi city tour, stay overnight on board in Halong Bay, then take the train to Hue on the 3rd night.
If you need a more detailed iti, pls tell, I am happy to help. I just want to share my experiences as a tour operator from Hanoi and welcome all of you to Vietnam. No fee of course.

Hi Guys,
From my point of views, The beach in Danang or Nha Trang have the same beauty. But From Da nang you can reach Hoi An or Hue in a couple of hours. So I totally recommend Da Nang - must see place. If the topic owner want to know more about the street foods in Hanoi. -snip-
Cheers up all

[ Edit: Sorry, no promos please. ]

Cheers. Can you inbox me the link to your blog mate?

When you mention food, I'm very interested in good and safe places to eat in the mentioned places. Especially in Ho Chi Minh, Danang, Hue and Hanoi which seem to be our destination.

I know that this post is a couple of months old but I'm travelling to Vietnam and Cambodia in August as well. I will arrive in HCM early on August 8. I booked my hotel until the 11th and will go to Cambodia after that . I've planned a flexible itinerary but I am really up for anything. I would love to hang out with some travel buddies because I'm pretty scared to travel alone.

I hope to hear from you soon! 1 week to go!

Thank you!
