OK, just to even it out, i do have to work nights at weekends sometimes, sometimes xmas, sometimes new year, easter etc. I have worked 3 out of 5 christmases. Small sacrifice in my eyes for all the time off i enjoy.

I had to go check out what you did for a living...SDH engineer? What does SDH stand for? I think I went the wrong way on career paths somewhere along the way...

I should change that to just engineer. SDH stands for Synchronous Digital Hierarchy. Still confused?? I basically sit in a network management centre and make sure part of the UK's fibre optic network behaves itself!!!

SDH = Sometimes do hard-work (Kidding! Just kidding!)

you definitely are kidding. It should be changed to NDH (never do hard-work)

Private firm called Ntl: They are the biggest cable company in the uk, but registered in the US (which turned out to be a good thing as Chapter 11 saved our bacon a couple of years back).

I see, taking advantage of US brankupcty laws heh? Which by the way, they just recently went through a major overhaul.

Great, I will put NTL as one of the companies to send a resume to and petition for 2 months of vacation a year as well...
