I'm in the preliminary stages of considering taking a years sabbatical from work and going to Australia. My initial thoughts were to begin my travels circa jan/feb 2014 spending 6-8 weeks in SE Asia then making my way over to Oz march/April time.
I'm pretty much open to suggestions on where to go and what to see and in what order although I would like to complete my 88 days regional work ASAP allowing my 2nd year visa and also end up in Sydney for the most part at the end - say June till December?
Ultimately I'd like to find steady work in Sydney with the potential of being sponsored to stay for the long term. Taking a 12 month sabbatical from work gives me the security of coming home should I need to but I'd really love to stay if I could.
BTW I'm 28 female from London/Surrey borders.
If anyone has any similar plans/ideas/suggestions/experiences I'd love to hear from you all. Also if anyone fancies a buddy along the way get in touch.
I'm travelling in June to Bangkok, does that work, I'm also taking 6 months off work, be good to chat, I'm in surrey as well.
Hi thanks for the reply, but unfortunately I cannot go anywhere until the new year so June is to soon for me I'm afraid. Have a wicked time!
Me and a friend are hoping to come out to Oz in April time next year, then looking to also do our regional work asap!
Wow! lozzer84 where to start. Autumn is usually a lovely season in Australia so you can pretty much go anywhere you like. It looks like you have around 2-3 months to travel over Autumn and just into the start of winter. If you are into skiing the ski season starts in the Snow mountains first weekend in June. Could be a fun place to wind up your travels before heading to Sydney. If you Start at the Central Youth Hostel you'll meet fellow travelers either just finishing their travels with lots of ideas on what they enjoyed or potential travel companions with ideas of their own.
good luck and have an amazing time
