Besides the traditional down-town visit, i would like to get to some open and nature full of energie space around Prague.
I hear about a place called Petrin..... You know something else that is not so far (1hr or 2 from city center) away.
Looking forward to meet some of you over there...let me know
I would strongly recommend Karlstejn. It is a short train ride out of Prague. Check www.bahn.de for train schedules. Karlstejn will give you a good glimpse of the Bohemian countryside. Take a tour of the castle and walk around the town. Bohemian crystal is cheaper there than it is in Prague. Let me know if you would like some more information. Hope this helps.
Chesky krumlov is amazing
You MUST go to Cesky Krumlov!!! Its farther south and closer to the Austrian border, but its completely AMAZING!! I can't stress that enough! In the summer, many people choose to go river rafting (apparently they say it's their national sport!!), and in the winter, hockey is quite popular.
Cesky Krumlov is probably my favourite place in all of Europe, and if you're in Prague, then you might as well hit Cesky Krumlov.
If you do by chance go to Cesky Krumlov, then Hostel 99 is a good, clean hostel. Have a good trip!!
Petrin Hill is next to the castle - about 30 min walk - or by the vernicular from the bottom of the hill for Kc8. At the top a minature of an Eiffle Tower (only 40m high and 230 tons of steel) - there is a lift but it's faster to use the stairs.
Next to it Roses Gardens, park and Astronomical Museum. Nice to go for a picnic.
