Sounds good, drinks in the sun would be a nice way to start before the work begins! Thanks James, joined the Facebook page.
I'm 24 and from Hawick in the Scottish Borders. What are you guys doing at home work wise? And can you do that course for bar work before you arrive in Oz?
I'm working at stables and doing some farm work just now.

Hope everyone is enjoying planning for their trip as much as I am :)

I will let you know Bec, when do you get to Thailand? I have all of June in Bali, can't wait! Good idea to do your RSA before you arrive but I understand there are different rules depending on what state you will be working in? I haven't looked into it much tho as I will be working as a chef so I shouldn't need to do it.

I should have over £5000, depends how much I can get for my car but I want to travel along the east coast first before I settle somewhere and get a job. So that should be enough to keep me going for a while but I did just spend some of that on a music festival in Byron Bay end of July ;). Yeah feel free to add :)

I got mine through this website off the Queensland government approved trainers list -

Cost £45 for rsa and rsg, covers for 5 of the states too! I'm been granted a years career break with work so haven't had to give anything up... Taking about 7k with me.

Heading to Thailand in November, need to look into it though on the best places to visit etc.

So excited, can't wait to leave that office for some fun!

Thanks Bec, I will have to do the course, that sounds like a pretty good price. That's cool that you can take a year out.

Sophie, I'm just planning on finding a job as soon as I can as I'm only gonna be taking 4k with me.

I have booked an appointment for next Monday at the STA in Bournemouth (nearest one for me)
I am looking to get a 12 month WHV, does anyone have any advice on what I should and shouldn't suscribe for
I am hoping to leave September/October possibly before to set off for Oz
Maybe start at the top in Cairns get some work (possibly) and go from there
Obviously nervous about going alone, but needs to be done ;)
If anyone is doing similar, don't hesitate to contact me
Happy Planning

Thats who i booked through....

Im doing the same and i share the same anxiety about going alone! i think its just the first few weeks i just dont want to be a loner lol. But judging by what people are saying its pretty hard not to make friends!

im travelling up to cainrs but i am flying back down to Brisbane for the 29th of August to get some work! im going to work for a couple of months and then move down a little towards Sydney/Melbourne. No paticular plan apart from seeing as much as i possibly can!

im worried about money! ... but as all other backpackers have said once you get work youll be fine!

I don't know what you mean with "subscribe for", but suspect you're looking to book your WHV through a third party service (such as STA), which is offering all kinds of add-ons. Don't! Just get your WHV from the official source, the Australian Department of Immigration. Significantly cheaper, and everything else offered by third-parties can be done cheaper (frequently for free) by yourself, if you want it at all.
