It all depends what you 're looking for out there, for example do you want to be in a city or in the mountains/ski resort?
I think I would prefer to city but not too big as maybe overwelming, somewhere where there's scenic quiet places but a little hustle and bustle too Bex....
I found out the other day about the IEP work Exchange Visa for 18-35 as I thought my time had passed being 32! So i'm just at the thinking stage at the moment....
I would head to Auckland - it's not too big to be overwhelming and there are plenty of quiet and scenic places surrounding the city if you want to escape the hustle and bustle. Also it's probably your best bet for finding a job and meeting other travellers.
I don’t think you will find anywhere that is too big in New Zealand!
I would agree with Bex on Auckland. This is somewhere when I first went I wasn’t totally overwhelmed with, but when I ended up back there and working a few months later I loved it. It has some fantastic little suburbs, beaches and things to do and see, and it is also the best place to look for work. I really like Auckland.
Yes, as Steve says, don't be put off by initial impressions of Auckland. I would get out of the city and explore the suburbs - we hardly ever went into the city centre for eating, drinking or shopping. The waterfront area is a nice place to sit outside and have lunch or a drink though.
Yes, Auckland. The suburbs go on and on.
At one time I would have said Christchurch but that will be a long time before it is anything like normal again.
I would say wellington is better and smaller than auckland. everything is close and accessible and there are tons of cool people around!
I can recommend Auckland since I live here. What I like most is that you can do alot of activities here. You can go to the local markets, hit the mall and shop to your heart's content. You can also go to thermal pools and I would add diving and snorkeling in marine reserves. You should come and experience it yourself
