Hi there,

I am a Product design student, and have been given the task of designing a product that can make travelling with or for a child easier. The child must be of age 2-5. The product can be used by either the child, parent or guardian.

I would much appreciate any help and if you have any time, please answer the below questions:

What activities do you do that involves travelling with your child? For example camping trips, going on holiday, trip to the shop (bear in mind that travelling can be on a walk, flight, drive, swim, cycle, train etc).

What problems do you encounter that cause difficulty when travelling for/with your child? For example these problems could occur from eating, playing, drinking, uncomfortable seating, health problems etc.

What kind of product would you like to see on the market, to help make travelling with your child easier?

Thank you very much for reading this post. Any help would be much appreciated.

The very young do not get on well with long flights and I have seen (and heard) some who screamed virtually from when they got on the plane till when they got off again, even on night flights. And their parents sat there like dummies.

Kids need to be occupied on flights. A few airlines will hand out colouring books and crayons. Maybe a pack of bits and pieces (that they cannot swallow) to keep kids interested?

I see young kids being dragged around Asia and unlike adults, their bodies are not good at handling such temperatures 10-20C above what they are used to. Maybe a bib of sorts where cool (but not cold) water can be poured in and laid over the child to keep them cool? A sunshade would help too. I've seen quite a number of lobster coloured kids.
