I'm planning on going to Aus in August time, and can't decide whether to start in Sydney or Perth. Was thinking Perth then travelling to Sydney, but just so much to take in. And would anyone reccomened booking through an organisation or just book on your own? As looked at some companies and seem to charge alot of money when it could be something I could arrange, but gives you a little comfort knowing someone is waiting at the other end.

Oooh I just want to go but I know I should plan and ask loads of questions. Any tips or ideas please, please help :)

Thanks :)

I am Australian and I have traveled around Australia - and from what you are saying sounds like you will have some sort of plan when you get here. I suppose I wonder first off if you are WHV or "just traveling"? As this will affect how long you stay places - and your itinerary when you are there.

For the most part people are coming into Sydney - although I have not been in Perth or WA since 1994-95. So not sure what specifics are regarding coming into Australia via this port. Let me just say - it is a long way from Perth to other parts of Oz. Unlike Melb. or Syd. or Brisbane - where you can hop on a bus or a cheap flight and be there without the hassle of having to think about it too much.

Regarding taking a tour; I have seen some crazy expensive tours - for places you could do half the price or less with a couple of people. I guess it just depends on what you want to see.
