Hi All,

I am 23yo guy from london planning to travel to Australia for a year in September. i have no real plan at all other than starting in Sydney because that's where i have heard the money is. Not going to be taking much money out so hopping to find work straight away is this a good idea?

Also not to sure about accommodation like should i just book a hostel for a week before i get out there and just see what happens?

I wasn't too fussed about out there on my own but every one i tell is telling me how brave i am! Whats up with? should i be trying to find some one to travel with?

So ANY advise/reasurment from people that are travelling or that are planning to travel would be HUGLEY appreciated!

Thanks
Glenn

Mate I'm planning on going on my own. Everyone says the same to me. I think you have to bear in mind that you are planning on doing something that so very few people actually do.

I've not found anyone to travel with, but there's going to be people out there.

I'm looking at heading out sept/oct time. Cannot wait, excited doesn't even begin!

Andrew

Hey! I'm travelling to Australia on the 8th October. Starting in Cairns and working down to Sydney on a bus pass. I've heard that its really easy to find work in Sydney and Surfers Paradise as they are aimed at tourists :) I'm going to be arriving into Sydney on Christmas eve and have no plans after that!

yeah i haven't even decided exactly where i am going to start yet just seems like Sydney would be an easy place to earn money. i would love to be in Sydney for new years but wouldn't want to stay there from September till new year so may have to find another place to start and work my way down there.

Hey that was me who posted but I'm on my other account now! You could look into getting one of the Greyhound bus passes, they're a great way to travel if you don't want to stick to a certain plan and don't want to spend loads of money! That's what I've got :)

Going to be with a friend from 21st October till 2nd jan but after that I'm on my own! Ive actually heard that western Australia (Perth etc) is a lot better for finding agricultural work than the east coast, however I'm sure there will be work on east coast, maybe just harder to find!
