Hey guys,

Our first stop on our trip is Hong Kong, just for 3 nights.

Can anybody recommend some places to stay that are central, have air con, are spacious and still reasonably priced?

Thanks in advance.

Two phrases never used in the same sentence when referring to Hong Kong hotel rooms - "Spacious" and "Reasonably priced".
I'm not the best for advice on HK accommodation since I never had to get a hotel room, but I would look for a place anywhere between Causeway Bay and Sheung Wan. You'll be within walking distance to the MTR, buses, or tram, and can get anywhere you need quickly. Another equally good option is to be in Kowloon, on or walkable to Nathan Rd. Chungking Mansions is the classic and always a cheap and popular backpacker option, though definitely don't expect "spacious".

True - there's nothing spacious in Hong Kong.

There are a lot of guest houses within the Causeway Bay area and you can't get any more central than Causeway Bay.

Just a word of caution staying at Chungking Mansions - be extra cautious of valuables and passport!

What is reasonably priced to you may be more than what I want to pay. How much do you want to spend on a room? Hong Kong is not the cheapest city in Asia for accommodation.

I used the Panda Hotel a few years ago. Previous years I stayed closer to the Nathan Road area. This hotel is not far from a MTR station.

We just came back from hong kong and stayed at Hotel Panorama by Rhombus. its was a great hotel and very central. 30 seconds to trains, about 60 seconds to nathan road. across the road was a laundry mat, they wash you clothes in 2 hours and cost a few dollars - i dont know what your budget is like but this was a nice place to stay. We were on the 26th floor and had a wonderful view of Hong Kong island. on the 40th floor they have an open deck which you can also view the city from. lower floors probably dont have as much of a nice view though. Staff were very nice. food was very nice. rooms were good too.

Thanks all for your feedback. Niiiiiiik I've looked at the Hotel Panorama and agree it looks beautiful but it's too expensive for our "backpacker budget".
Our budget would be closer to £70 - £80 per night as this is our first stop we want to stay somewhere where with air con where we can be comfortable.

I think we will avoid Chungking mansions but Causeway bay sounds like a great option and the Panda Hotel seems closer to our budget.

Thanks all.:)

You could like to stay in luxury one, ecomomic one or just local home? I think in HongKong you have numurious choices

Mirador Mansions is about a block down Nathan Rd and not quite as bad as Chungking, however its still not quite the Hilton, you may have to surrender a little here because HK is not exactly backpacker budget friendly. :)
