Hey Guys,

I'm travelling SE Asia arrive in Bangkok on the 6th. I've already booked 2 nights stay in a hostel, and that's it really. I plan to travel Bangkok and northern Thailand first then move into Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia and back to Thailand for the 17th July meet my friend Head to the full moon party, travel around all the beaches and islands. My friend leaves then Ill go into Malaysia, Singapore and if i have time Indonesia and fly back to Bangkok to get my return flight home.

If any one wants to jump on the bandwagon feel free.

Few things I'm unsure about

  • malaria tablets which ones should I buy that are at a affordable price range, would I need to take them constantly?
  • How much money would you recommend to take for a 3+ adventure
  • Is there any other precautions I should take being a female black solo traveller. (not including racial remarks I can easily deal with that)
  • I heard it is hard to cross from Cambodia into Thailand. Is this true?
  • Will I be able to go in and out of Thailand that many times?

Any advice would be brilliant. Thanks in advance
I'm so excited, to have fun, explore and meet new people. Only two weeks to go and counting.

Kach :) xx

Regarding to your question concerning Malaria Tablets, when you are in the area with the risk of getting infected, you need to take 1 pill every day, the difference between the cheap and the expensive, is that the cheap ones you have to take 3-4 weeks after you have left the malaria area.

PS: Info from my Doctor - went there just yesterday for same advice :)

Your doctor should be the one telling you what is the best malaria meds. If I am in a malaria zone I use Doxycycline. I buy it in Thailand in local pharmacies. (Four baht to 10 baht each capsule.) Dengue fever is something you ought to read up about. As far as I know there is no preventative available. This means slathering on something with deet and staying in places where there is less chance of mosquitoes in your room. If you are a bug magnet maybe also wearing long sleeve shirts and long pants too! I prefer a room with A/C so I can keep the windows shut. Some fan rooms have screens with holes that allow mosquitoes in the room.
