A non-smoker here, never was one, and don't intend to be one.

Hien, what exactly does a moderator do? Did you notice I got Travel Guru status today??? Everyone feel free to congratulate me on my biggest TP milestone

No, it's not a matter of being polite; it's more a case of being half pissed and "needing" a cigarette every 10 minutes.

Well, every 10 minutes is just being an ass. They are just rude. But better outside than in your face.

... I do find it really unsociable and bad mannered when you are out to dinner with a group of people, and the smokers have to do a runner outside between courses....so irritating.

In a way, I think they are respecting us non-smokers when they leave the table to smoke somewhere else. At least they don't puff in front of you while you're eating or doing something.

... just because I choose to inhale that stuff into my lungs doesn't mean I should force others too...

If only all smokers think like you. :)

I don't even smoke in my own house or car...just outside...(Remember I have also been a non-smoker...I know how much I hated it in my face;))

You know Brendan, here in the US when you use the term DOWN with something, it means you are UP for that (in slang of course), you "like" that, you are "cool" with that...have you heard people say, "yeah, I am down with that"?. The conversation goes like this:

Guy: Hey girl, how are you? Want to go out for a couple of drinks?
Girl: Sure, why not? I am down with that...

It does sound pretty...whats the politically correct word...uneducated maybe? I dont recommend anyone using it but it is funny when someone in my circle of friends use that word in a conversation, we all laugh.

When I saw you said I am down with smoking, it sounded to me like you were OK with it. But you arent

I dont know why I had to get into this long explanation about it either hahaha...thats what happens when there isnt anything better to do at the moment. It is 11:30 pm here...nothing on TV anyway...

PS I am not saying you are uneducated by the way, thats when you notice the differences in cultures within the same language.

I used to smoke....quit a few years ago, but I still tend to smoke a little when I'm at a bar with friends. There's something about alcohol that makes me crave one! I'm getting better though...the last time I went to a bar I didn't have any!

I wish I had never started with the smoking...I started in my senior year in high school. It is my mommy's fault, she never put a stop to it. If I had been her, I would have slapped me silly...
