I am looking at doing a 5 day tour of Scotland on January 15th. I want to see snow and find a nice place to stay near the mountains.
Any suggestions...

Hi, I would highly recomend a visit to Aviemore if your looking for snow and mountains! you can get there by train or bus from glasgow or edinburgh and although the village is quite popular with tourists, especially now with the skiing, you can easily get to loch morlich and glenmore at the foot of the cairngorms by bus and it's just an amazing area to explore!:)

I agree that Aviemore is a good area; it is now 7th and little sign of real snow, so good luck. It would be really disappointing if you came just for snow as you may not find much!

You may also want to consider the east side of the Cairngorms at Braemar and Ballater (Royal country) but it can be more difficult to reach by public transport.
