Do you wanna guess how many times i"ve been asked to marry someone online?

I mean, seriously...if someone you met online were to ask you to marry them, that is a absolute certain sign something isnt quite there, if you know what I mean...

This is my first time ever carrying on new friendships with people on line and it has been a good experience but then again, we could all be mass murderers...I am just going with my gut animal instinct...:)

I wouldn't go that far. It's not as unusual as it sounds, and i know a surprising number of couples who met online and are either engaged/married/long term relationships etc. I've even been asked a couple of times, but i just thought it was funny!

Obviously if somebody you've barely met online or talked to asks you marry them its a bit strange, but i honestly think that online is much stronger chances than randomly finding somebody in a bar when your both p1ssed

Fair comment, Gelli
At least you are speaking from some experience.

There are a lot of lonely, busy, shy, successful (or whatever) middle class people in cyberspace. Wanting to be romanced or entranced by that special someone ("soulmate" if you like). What are they really doing with themselves and their lives? How fulfilling are their everyday relationships?
+
It can get very quiet when you are all alone. When times, such as Easter and Christmas, serve to highlight the emotional void in an individual. The emptiness ... the longing to be wanted. Do many little girls dream of being a princess with a knight in shining armour coming to take her away?

And of course, everyone lives happily ever after.

Same on my part of the world...a lot of online dating that ends up with happy married couples...but of course that is after a fair amount of courtship. I mean, there are a lot of factors to be considered about the person you would want to marry aside from the limited "online knowledge" you may get from them ;)

I get lots of information and pictures that people send me via the internet. There's one Chinese girl that's been writing to me a lot lately. She's a friend of a friend. She plans to make me very happy if we ever meet in person. It's possibly very easy to confide in someone online. Responses are immediate and there is minimal cost involved.

I met my boyfriend online. He is likely the love of my life. (Can't say for sure as every relationship I've had has been better than the one before!)

He lived interstate when we first met and I'd call him when I was lying in bed at night (not for phone sex!! well... hmmm... ) but so that his voice was the last one I heard every day that we were apart.

When Lonely Planet did their presentation in Berlin, they knew of three couples that had formed through their forum and were married.... they were still waiting on the first divorce

Now, who on TP can we set up?

I've actually met a few couples that met online. Must happen all the time which is one of those great things the internet has brought with it!
