Hey all! My bf and I are planning on spending this August-October in one mid-sized Central/Eastern European city, and are trying to decide which it should be! We have both traveled pretty extensively through Europe, and want to try something different...also want to see what it might be like living in one of these places in the future and if it is something we would enjoy.

The big factors for us are
-Affordability, we are on a very tight budget so the cheaper the better haha.
-Non-touristy, and not too big...but big enough that it has all the amenities we'd need.
-Gay friendly, we are a gay couple...and while we don't need/care for gay clubs or any gay scene, we went to be safe.
-Beauty, we want to be in a beautiful and interesting city
-Communication, we won't be speaking the language in any of these places, so being able to at least communicate would be great haha.

The cities we have been considering include...

Olomouc, Czech Republic (big perk here is that the Czechs are very gay friendly)
Cluj-Napoca, Romania (perk here is that I speak fluent Spanish, so the language would be least daunting)
Timisoara, Romania (same as above)
Pecs, Hungary
Gyor, Hungary
Kosice, Slovakia

Would love to hear any opinions you all may have based on your experiences and the things that are important to us...and also any other suggestions of cities that I may not have considered! Thank you!

I have been to many cities in Czech Republic and I think you should choose this country. Also Brno is quite nice and beautiful city.

Do not know anything about Romania.

Have been to Hungary, but I think it may be difficult to communicate withe them- the language is very difficult ;-)

You could also consider Poland - Gdansk, Krakow or Wroclaw. I live in Wroclaw and like the city, but if you are looking for the most beautiful and smaller/quiet cities I would recommend Czech Republic.
