The examples i gave were both backpackers, who to be fair can be pretty obvious. I wasn't suggesting either backpacker advertises their money, just people know backpackers do have some form of money in richer countries. Or at least, the majority do.

I do agree, people give too much information. Maybe not here but on social media, where a lot of people know when and where to break in. AND what to take! It is not so smart but oh well...

I actually do agree on not sharing too much information on facebook for example. At least not directly mentioning you are on holiday from then till then etc. Or sharing adress, phone number. Even if you can adjust privacy and account setting, it's not to say people can not try and look for information.
