Hey guys I'm a 22 year old student travelling solo to Australia from October to December and was hoping to work a bit in Brisbane, travel down the gold coast and finish the trip with Xmas and NYE in Sydney.
I know you have to book hostels early for this period and was wondering what places people would recommend? As I'm alone, a place with a good atmosphere and events would be ideal. Base is already full but Nomads and Wakeup still have spaces. I've been told these would be better for meeting people than YHA hostels? Is that true?
I was also considering staying in a hostel at Bondi beach instead of the city as I'd rather maximise my time at the beach and then just head into the city for NYE. Is this a good idea or is it best to be in the hub? Surfside backpackers looks pretty decent.
Anyways, any tips would be hugely appreciated and if anyone is out there at the same time then definitely let me know
There is an Accommodation link at the top of the page. Most hostels are OK. You want somewhere neat public transport and if arriving late, 24 hour check -in. It would not hurt to be somewhere near the bay for the NYE firework celebration.
You are going the busiest time ofthe year, and so the most expensive. Places are already filling up so book very soon.
Im planning on being in Sydney for Christmas & NYE, I will have a campervan so will park in the city and camp like a pirate!
Hey! im also in sydney for christmas and new years
booked to stay at this hostel : http://www.woodduck.com.au/g-day-backpackers-sydney/
Not the best but it was by far one of the cheapest
I'm staying at the yha at the rocks at the moment no problem meeting people at all it just depends how you are as a person more than the hostel itself i think. Let me tell you the location is amazing for the money if you can get in here for new years you should!
Hey everyone, thanks for the tips, I'll get booking today! Maybe see you down there Charlotte x
went for nomads in the end as it seems pretty lively! x
