Hey Warren, lets not get too serious . I think we understand what you mean. I understand what you mean and what you are trying to get across here in TP.

But I have to admit, being a bit silly and maybe even deviating a bit from the topic at hand, whilst not purposely done, has brought a bit of liveliness to my every day life. My job is to be in an office all day flipping paperwork with interaction with clients on a daily basis going over the same issues, same questions, same problems. My work day is pretty much quite boring at times.

Maybe it is a bit selfish of me to just notice and take note of what TP has brought into my life but it has in fact allowed me to spark my creativity, it has gotten my attention with TP being my very first on-line experience and it has put a smile in my face in more than one ocassion. Again, it may be selfish of me, but I think the Off Topic forum, while silly at times and really off-topic at others, has accomplished what it was set out to accomplished and I must admit mostly because of your thoughtful, attention grabbing threads.

Anyway, we hope to still "see" you around ;)

Hi everyone,

I'm reluctant to get into this because division is not a good thing but we're all grown ups here and should be able to see both sides.

I'm very much with Wocca on this one. I have as usual participated on a daily basis in nearly all the threads, but I will admit to feeling that most of them were just taken over in recent times with chat that could have happened in the chat room. I'm not excluding myself here, just to clarify.

I agree that the Off-Topic forum is somewhere to get an insight into people feelings/attitudes/lives - something that cant be done in other forums, and I think we should all try to stick to the point of the thread. Otherwise they will all trail off into the same thing....

The cross-referencing thing is hard not to do - we're all guilty of it on, including Wocca on occasions.

So how about we all agree to make a concerted effort to keep chatting to the chat rooms and stick to the point as much as possible in the threads?

I really enjoy spending time on line with all of you and I would like it to stay that way.

;)Ev

I agree with you, Eve. And, I am glad you overcame your reluctance to comment.

Travellerspoint Forum Rules
Last Updated 30.3.03

To help these forums be as useful and interesting to users of Travellerspoint, we have implemented some rules. These rules deal with several common problems that forums deal with; spam, duplicate posts and abusive language or discussions.

We want this forum to be a pleasant place for all our users, so here are the rules we ask you to abide by:

1. NO swearing, derogatory or inflammatory remarks are allowed. Any such comments will simply be deleted by admin or moderators.
2. NO email addresses are permitted. This is to prevent spam harvesters from lurking at Travellerspoint.
3. NO website postings for promotional purposes are permitted. If the postings are genuine responses to questions, we will permit them. Any website postings that look like they are only there to promote a website rather than help other members will be removed.
4. NO advertising is permitted. These posts will be simply deleted.
5. NO personal contact information is permitted. We value your privacy even if you don't. If you want people to get in touch, ask them to send you a message through our messaging system.
6. NO double posting. Post your question in the forum that suits best. Posts that ask the same question or start the same topic twice will be removed without notice.

If any of these rules are broken, the moderators will either edit your post or delete it entirely. They may or may not send you a message explaining the situation.

These rules may be updated from time to time.

We hope you understand the need to implement these rules and feel that these forums are a better place because of it. If you have a problem with any of these rules, let us know what your concerns are in the System Forum so we can take them into consideration.

We welcome you to visit the Travel Forums!

Often Fabulous Fun, These Original Posts Inspire Chit-Chat

Sorry Wocca, I couldn't help myself. Seriously though, I don't have a problem with how the off-topic forum is going. Nothing in our very few rules (as kindly posted by Wocca) says people can't go off-topic in off-topic threads (or in any other threads for that matter). I'm not sure how the new members feel about it, but from what I can tell, a lot of them love to see the good relationships on the forums and are welcomed whole-heartedly to be part of it. Sure, occassionally, I've got no idea what is going on in these threads, but I don't really mind. For me, one of the most rewarding aspects of running this website is seeing people develop relationships. I see the cross-referencing between threads as a direct result of that.

Agreed with Evelyn though, that sometimes topics would be better discussed in the live chat. Then again, I'm not particularly fussed what happens in Off Topic (as long as no-one starts a flaming war!!). Since we removed the Off Topic threads from the All Threads forum, I think it's all pretty well under control.

Anyway, let's all be nice about this :) and maybe have some chocolate to celebrate..

Peter

p.s. I'm moving this to System Talk, as it seems to fit better there.
