Anne, I used to work for a the Tropical Medical Bureau in Ireland and I heard the following tip:

Start taking Vitamin B daily a few months before you travel...apparently mosquitos dont like the taste of your skin or something...and bite less. Combine that with your 100% DEET and the usual nets, etc...and you might be okay.

E;)

I once had a vaccination in one of my bum cheeks. It went all numb and it took me 90 minutes to walk across Tower Bridge (London). I got some strange looks on the way across. I don't know why, but, at the time, even though i was in pain i found it really funny and was laughing most of the way across

Dave, it sounds like they hit your sciatic nerve!

Thanks Eve! I am a little late for the Vitamin B already I think but I have some at home. I will start taking it now. Yes, I am bringing a gallon of Deet That is the only thing that will save me I think. Although my dr said..."you will sweet so deet wont help you much..." Is deet waterproof??

No he's not....just found this on the Mayo Clinic website:

"Unless the product specifically states that it's waterproof, reapply DEET-containing insect repellent after swimming, getting caught in the rain or wiping off sweat"

Did I mention that I have a degree in the Arts and not medicine?
