Hi!

Ok so I've posted a few questions on here, all answered very well. I know there's loooooads of budget questions, but honestly, my heads a shed reading through them all.

Its looking very likely now that me and my boyfriend will be travelling next August (woop!) Its a bit far away but we cant leave any earlier. And we need to work out how much to save.

Here is the very rough itinerary:

2 weeks in Japan (ferry to China)
4 weeks in China (Southeast Asia mainly, Shanghai only for a few days, ending in Nanning for train to Vietnam)
3 weeks in Vietnam (Tour to Cambodia featuring Mekong Delta)
2 weeks in Cambodia (Fly to Philippines)
2 weeks in the Philippines (Fly to Indonesia)
3 weeks in Indonesia (Fly to Malaysia)
2 weeks in Malaysia (Fly to Thailand - heard bad things about the southern borders in Thailand/Malaysia for tourists?)
6 weeks in Thailand

Japan and China are throwing my daily average out as they're more expensive, but I'm saving for £70 per day for both of us - certain countries should be less, but I was thinking this would cover the more expensive places?

I was hoping this would include everything really for a couple:
Excursions and sightseeing,
Basic shopping,
Basic travel between places,
Food - mainly street food but with regular treats!
But most importantly - A/C, clean, private rooms! We're happy to also do hostels and share rooms- but the cleanliness is the main factor so we'd like to stay in the upper end of the hostel range. If ya get me? (Less BUGS! One hopes...)
We don't drink at all and we're not going for the party scene. I scuba dive, but it will be a treat not a regular thing....

Based on that daily figure of £70 for 2 people, and combined with the majority of flights/ferries/trains we'll need, and all the pre-trip stuff such as insurance, jabs and gear, I've got a total of £16000 approx. for 6 months for two people.

Whaddayathink?

If possible (i.e. if we work even harder than we are now!) we want to add the Maldives on to the end of it for one week. I've got a budget there of around £150 per day - realistic?

And out of interest- in-case we get a lot more than we budgeted, what's an average daily cost for a couple in California and/or Florida, USA and the French Polynesia? They would be our next ports of call depending on the savings.... Just an approx. average is fine as I know everyone's different!

Thanks!

Helpful...

Is £16000 not realistic then? USA and French Polynesia are just ponderings ATM so we're quite happy to stick within budget. And it would be one or the other for about a week.

Otherwise if you're not going to be clear then I don't see the point of you replying at all :s
