Hi all, just a quick one really!

I'm flying to Australia in December and would really like to take my (acoustic) guitar. My luggage allowance is one item of 32kg's. Do I:
A) Get a hard case and put it in as my luggage, and then take a smaller backpack on as my hand luggage.
B) Pay for extra luggage and check it in along with my backpack
C) Buy another when i'm there
D) Attempt to take it as a carry-on item in a gig bag, but run the risk of having to send it 'down below' where it'll inevitably be crushed.

It's a mid range guitar and although i'd love to take it, my concern is that it'd get damaged. Do I buy a cheap one out there?!

Any guidance would be super!

Thanks, Matt

Hello,
My suggestion is do not take your guitar and travel comfortably...

I haven't travelled to Australia, but I know one guy, who travelled in Europe with a guitar by plane and he took it as a carry-on and had no problems. :)

I'll have to find out from the airline, as I don't want to take it in a soft gig-bag and not be able to take it on! Food for thought though, thanks!
