Travel Forums Europe Dangerous places in England?

Guys,
Tho there's loads of posts saying how beautiful and scenic England is BUT as precaution, I'd like to know some 'famous' places where crimes are likely to happen there.

Thanks as I hope this won't chase any UK-lovers away but giving us a proper view of True England.

I'd like to know some 'famous' places where crimes are likely to happen there.

All major tourist attractions have petty thiefs/pickpockets (as they do all over the world) who prey on those who don't take any precautions and have their wallets hanging out etec, but if you take basic precautions, you'll be fine. Other than that, i can't think of anything specific

((other than maybe extortion - teh price to get into some of these attractions is incredible ))

Quite right, I was baffled by the entry fee of the London Tower. At £13.50 that equals about AU $32 Is it worth it? Kind of hard to say really. But I guess if you want to see the crown jewels you have little choice. Be sure to take this into account when budgetting for the day ahead.

On the other hand, the Tate Modern, British Museum and Victoria & Albert are all entirely free and extremely well worth a visit :)

Sorry, but I have no idea what areas might not be safe.

A lot depends on how easy a target you are yourself, when it comes to being unsafe

England i would personally say is an extremely safe country. As everyone says if you make yourself vulnerable then you will be targeted, but take precautions like dont walk around at night on your own in towns and stuff like that. Your gonna get little shites that may want to think they are the `big` man if you get my drift. Im not sure where you are from cos i havent checked but do not fret in the least, i have lived in a town where trouble can spark and have only been involved once in my whole life!!
Have fun,

Lee,

Safety is never guaranteed anywhere, but if you use your common sense, and, as Wocca says, don't make a target of yourself you should be fine. Be friendly with people, but don't trust them with anything that you can't afford to lose!!!! Most tourists are victims of opportunist crime - don't give them the opportunity
