Hello

My name is Casey and I am an American preparing for a year abroad in Spain. I applied for a national visa at the Chicago consulate on June 27 , 2013 and was told that in 4 weeks my visa would arrive. It is now nearing the 4 week mark and I am becoming nervous. I am aware of the 90/180 rule of Schengen countries that Americans must follow to legally travel within them and my question is this: I was in Spain, stamped in and out, from May 16 until June 11, 26 days. The date i requested entry for is August 29, which is within 90 days of my last exit from the Schengen area. Will this cause my visa to be denied? Also, on the application for that Chicago gave me it said that I must apply for a student card within one month of entering Spain. Is this the NIE being called by a different name? Do I use this student registration/NIE to re-enter the country after being home for Christmas? Also, the consolate told me that my inital visa would be a 90 day multiple entry. Does this mean that I can pop up to England within those 90 days and have no problems coming back? Also, after that, what will I use as a travel document for inter schengen travel. I obviously cannot have a Schengen area entry/exit stamp for each country I go to while holding a long term visa in Spain, so do I bright my student/NIE paperwork? Do i show them my (maybe expired) 90 day visa? I'm becoming very nervous, if someone has answers I'd really appreciate it!

Gracias!
