Help please. I'm travelling to Australia at the beginning of May and am not sure what sort of insurance package to get. Any advice?

Hope this helps but when I got my RTW ticket the guys at STA suggested their own premier backpacker insurance. It was quite expensive about £400 but it covers for tons of stuff including diving to 30 meters. All I can suggest is to look around im sure there are links somewhere in travellerspoint to stuff like that, search the site.

Happy hunting:)

I was in Bangkok last month, and the travel agents there were recommending STA for the best RTW tickets

Travellerspoint has this to offer under tools :

I have no idea if they're good or bad. I think one of the companies is Aussie though.

I used insure and go for my insurance - if I remember correctly it was something like 200GBP for 13 months cover in Australia, for their silver cover (doesn't include adventure sports). It was recommended in another thread. It was worth getting the extra month cover cos otherwise the insurance might run out while you are still on your flight home.
The website is:
Hope that helps

hi jano, your going travelling around about the same time as me and i wondered whether you have managed to get decent travel insurance yet? im just stuck, really cant decide who to go with, insureandgo or nomads! ive heard so many reviews on nomads all are positive!! what you going to do?

hi i've had a look at, they are great for me because they do an offer where as long as you spend 75% of your time in australia or new zealand then you don't have to buy worldwide insurance for the rest of the time. i'm only going to be in USA for 1 month so it makes sense for me to do that. it's worth a look.

hiya, just had a look at, looked quite cheap and the thing about spending at least 75% of time in OZ is really good! as well as prices i have been checking out the cover of insurance like personal liability, legal cost, baggage etc...
is it worth getting money and baggage cover, should you get insured for hazardous activities??
and finally, how much should we be insured for e.g. examples from

Medical Expenses £3,000,000
Personal Accident £15,000
Legal Expenses £15,000
Personal Liability £2,000,000
Repatriation £3,000,000

as im sure alot of you have had to get insurance for travel, in your opinion are these good amounts to be insured for???
as im doing WHV in oz do i need to get insured for working out in oz?
(sorry so many questions!)
thanks x
