I'm going to Cuba for 2 weeks on March 30th but the Cuban authorities charge 10% commission when exchanging USD to Pesos.
Does anyone know if you can get cash advances in Euros from any bank in Lima, as they don't charge commission on Euros.

Anthony

not from the cash mashine - just walk into banks exchange booth with your card and your ID. You might need to fill a short form.

Hi,
you can easily change any (almost) currency to Euros on the street in Lima. Look for the ones with yellow shirts and "euro" written on their back. Not the best rate ever, but better then the cuban commision.

Good Luck.

Idz ;)

Beware of fake currency...even my brother who lives there got stiffed by one of those street money-exchangers. You are almost better off going to a bank.
But actually I was going to ask, why do you want euros in Lima? When I go to Peru, I almost never carry cash with me. I take $100 and exchange that into local currency for the small things and then the rest I put on my American Express card. I usually get a better exchange rate through my credit card and they are widely acceptable all over the country. Just be sure to have ID when you use it.
