Sometimes others can put into words what we are feeling.(Better than we can ourselves;)

Quoting Wordsworth

DAFFODILS.

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills
When all at once I saw a crowd
A host, of golden daffodils

Here's a poem that i wrote a couple years ago. I wrote it when I was living in a small town on an island in the middle of nowhere in Canada!! It sort of reflects back to my life at the time... thank gosh times have changed!!;)

Deprived of Life
This is a story about a small girl,
Who lived in a town in it's own little world.
The town was just tiny, with no future dreams
The life there was lost and worse than it seemed.
The girl in this town had spent her whole life
Being told of her future as a wife.
She'd have to stay home and do all the chores
But the girl would not listen, 'cause she wanted more.
She wanted to learn much more than she knew,
And she wanted to know just what she could do.
She wanted to run and escape the small town,
She wanted to hide and never be found.
The town was too small for her big ambition
But no one would listen to her proposition.
'Cause no one would look and no one would see
Her desire to run, her desire to leave.
She'd always be stuck in the small little town,
And live day by day as the Earth twirled round.
She hated the thought (to be tied as a wife)
She hated to be deprived of her life.

The poem that turned me off the Wordsworth - after having to memorize it in 6th grade. I failed at memorizing it and at learning to like ol' William's stuff.

"Road Signs"

Time has traveled down
a gravelled road of wisdom-
let's just call it grace.

I would have rather memorized "Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner" - all seven parts. But, I like Rhyme so it would have been easier - and travel-related to boot.
