Do coupons make you buy more?

Travel Forums Off Topic Do coupons make you buy more?

I just got a $10-off coupon on my next purchase of $50 at a favourite clothing store of mine. I wasn't going to go shopping in the next few weeks, but now that I'm getting some savings....

Are any of you guys out there like me - a sucker for a deal?

Cheers,
Katie ;)

Nothing beats the feeling of getting a good deal! (other than a chocolate binge or orgasm anyway;))

I find most "deals" to be a waste of time. The percentage discount is either too low, or it applies to only "selected goods" (rubbish that I don't want), or doesn't apply to goods "already on sale" (stuff I still don't want), or they have an expiry date that is too soon.

Shopping around saves more money, but can be time consuming.

used to be, am now completely cured.

it helps when you have absolutely no time to devote to shopping for anything. I'm the sort to have only milk & instant noodles in the house, and only rush out when I absolutely need something.

Nah..If I find something , usually I swoop it up. "Hey can't take it with you when you croak!" Carpe diem peeps! Did I mentioned I just dropped 150 on a pair jeans?

I hope they had gold coins in the pockets or a platinum zipper!

Most of coupons that I get are for all the pre-packaged food I don't buy. Meaning, in order to use them, I would have to buy something I didn't want, ultimately spending more money only to save a few cents. In store sales are more effective.

Though, did receive a Border's gift card for using our American Express card for a hotel stay over Christmas. Bought our LP guide to Panama, a Panama road map and a couple of other things with it. That was a nice surprise.

It seems I am always after those coupons but when it comes down to it, I never use them. I dont go shopping very often...only been to the mall once this year and it was to buy the hubby some clothes.

Well, at least your hubby's benifiting from your shopping! Does he ever return the favour and bu you stuff? It doesn't have the same rush as shopping, but who doesn't love a gift? ;)

Personally, the only time I use coupons is to order pizza. Among that, coupons don't really help that much. Especially here in California, when sales tax bracket is almost 10 percent! Can you image having dinner, and your date pays with a 2 for 1 at the local red Lobster! You can forget that kiss!

Seriously, having kids or a house then every cent counts. Opposed to being single(ahem) with little responsibities. I guess coupons are more valued when your life is more "routine". Unlike me, a member of generation broke! Asking me about 5 years down the road...maybe;).
