So I'm thinking of taking four days and going to Reykjevik and should have plenty of time to explore outside of the city and head to the Blue Lagoon. Does anyone have any helpful hints or some places that cannot be missed?

You only need half a day for the Blue Lagoon. I would suggest checking out Þingvellir, Gullfoss and Geysir. All these can be seen in a days trip. Glacier trips are also a lot of fun. Snæfellsjökull would be the best, I think. Hope that helps you. PM me if you have any more questions.

I'd recommend doing the Blue Lagoon last, as it feels soooo good after walking around for several days. It's a bit more isolated from everything else, though, and if you rent a car, take extra care on the roads. It's especially dangerous if you should happen to run off the road into the lava rocks. Happened to a group of three women and their driver when I was there, and they went home on crutches. If you spend a night at the Northern Lighs Inn, the only place near the Blue Lagoon, they'll provide a shuttle to/from the airport.
